Secrets To Fighting Stubborn Thigh Fat & Cellulite

With shorts and bathing suit season here, our clients all seem to ask the same question! Grabbing their legs, they askhow do I get rid of cellulite!?

Magazines and television programs promote creams and magical formulas to smooth away the fat and cellulite, but after dealing with these troubles myself I have developed a routine that with a little, time, dedication and proper dieting, has delivered results. 

The first step is to understand whats really going on with your body. It became clear to me that by looking at the different shapes of our clients and cross-referencing this with their hormone levels, certain patterns were forming. So, for example, women with high levels of estrogen seem to carry more body fat around their thighs and rear-end. What most women don’t realize is that hormones heavily influence body fat distribution. However with the right regime and determination, any woman can fight the stubborn thigh fat and cellulite issues!

Here are 5 steps that will set you on the right path, enjoy!

Step # 1: Visit A Holistic Doctor

First of all, begin by seeking out and visiting a holistic doctor, that offers saliva tests. This test will give you an overview of all your active, circulating hormones and why you carry weight in certain areas of the body. For myself it was the back of my legs and the side of my legs. As I stated above, body types that carry weight in the lower half, typically are connected to high/imbalanced estrogen levels.

Step #2: Diet

At The Gym of Avon, we like to use the term “life style change” rather then diet. From our experience, diet's seem to be impractical and force individuals to focus on the "end date". If you carry weight in your lower half, stock up on cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and cabbage, these contain micronutrients that help to regulate liver enzymes that metabolize estrogen. Fiber products along with flaxseeds are also great for regulating estrogen levels. 

It's a good idea to cut down on alcohol, painkillers, processed meat, plastics and an over use of caffeine. Eating live yogurt or taking a probiotic can help your gut in removing estrogen. Lowering your consumption of processed carbs is also a strategy that will help you lose body fat. So, build your nutritional plan around healthy proteins, fats, and green vegetables, save the healthycarbs for workout days!

Step #3 : Begin Taking DIM 3C (1 pill 3 times a day)

Supplements can make a big difference when they're paired with a well balanced diet. Try introducing a supplement called Diindolymethane - or DIM for short - into your vitamin routine. DIM is a powerful nutrient found in broccoli, cauliflower, and other cruciferous vegetables that has a direct effect on hormonal balance and can minimize the negative effects of excess estrogen. 

Studies have shown that DIM aids in better clearance of estrogens. Step #4: Exercise 

It's very important to workout in various ways such as; free weights, body weight and machines. Spend some extra attention on the legs, seeing as that these exercises burn tons of calories and will produce muscle tissue! Firming the muscle underneath the cellulite will help smooth the skin's appearance. Focus on strength training moves that build up the hamstrings, quads, bottom and hips. Therefore, target the lower body at least two times a week, increasing the weight over time to challenge your muscles. Among the most effective lower-body exercises are; step ups, lunges, squats and deadlifts!

Step#5 : Massage Oil
