Healthy Breakfast Sandwich, Keto Style

Usually when the words "healthy breakfast" come into play, these means you're most likely removing all the tasty stuff! For once, this recipe from Hey Keto Mama will change this trend. Now, some of you might be wondering what the hell does "keto" mean? The word keto comes from a style of dieting termed; Ketogenic Dieting. Eating this way requires you to consume high amounts of healthy fats, adequate protein and minimal carbohydrates.

Going off of some recent posts centered on correct eating, the Ketogenic style works perfectly for breakfast! For a healthy breakfast, it's important to restrict blood sugar rising carbohydrates, while making up the rest of the calories through protein and fats! This way you'll have sustained energy and focus throughout the morning!

Ingredients: 

  • 2 sausage patties

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp of cream cheese

  • 2 tbsp of sharp cheddar 

  • 1/4 medium avocado, sliced

  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp sriracha or hot sauce of choice

  • Salt, pepper to taste

Directions: 

  1. In a medium skillet cook sausage patties as described through the directions. 

  2. Place the cream cheese and sharp cheddar in a small bowl and melt over low-medium heat.

  3. Next, mix the cheese with sriracha or hot sauce, set aside.

  4. Wish the egg with seasoning in cook in the form of an omelet. Basically you'll be cooking a pancake style egg!

  5. Place the cheese and hot sauce mixture on the egg and fold to close.

  6. Lastly, place the egg on top of once sausage patty. Top the egg with avocado slices and then pin together with the other sausage patty!
