Cardio Exercises That Burn Lots Of Calories

INDOOR ROWING:

A study at Harvard University revealed that a 185-pound male can burn close to 400 calories over the course of a 30-minute row! This averages out to around 13 calories per minute, thats some efficient work right there!

BURPEES:

Burpees are another one of those great full-body exercises. Depending on your size and tempo, you can burn around 1-2 calories per burpee. Now, this doesn't sound like a ton but if you can rep out 10 per minute, calories add up quick!

Shooting for an average of 10 burpees every minute at a fast pace can rev your metabolism as much as a 30-minute, all-out bike sprint! This makes burpees a killer cardio movement that can be done in or out of the gym. 

AIRDYNE BIKE SPRINTS:

Airdyne's have been around for forever! This is an "old school" piece of equipment that still gets the job done. It's possible to burn a staggering 70+ calories in only 1-minute...now thats bang for you buck!

This piece of equipment will fire up your arms and legs, leaving you gasping for air at the end of a sprint. At The Gym of Avon we consistently utilize airdyne sprints to shed body fat and support muscle growth!  

TABATA JUMP SQUATS:

At The Gym of Avon we love Tabata training! It is a great way to burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time. Not only will Tabata training fire up your metabolism during training, but it will keep it elevated for at least 30-minutes post-exercise!

With the jump squats routine, you can burn around 13 calories per minute by way of a 20s on : 10s off set-up. Perform as many jump squats as possible for 20 seconds followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeat for 8 sets!
